How long does a bathroom remodel take in Colorado Springs?
Straight answer: allow 2 to 4 weeks of on-site work for a standard bathroom once everything is on site — demo takes 1–2 days, plumbing, electrical and waterproofing fill the first week, tile runs through weeks two and three, and fixtures, glass and finishing close out the final week. A small tub-surround refresh can be done in about a week; a full gut with a custom concrete shower pan, layout changes or glass on order runs 4 to 6 weeks. The work itself is rarely what stretches a job — waiting on tile, glass or a plumber's slot is.
The timeline, stage by stage
Demo (days 1–2). Old tile, fixtures and substrate come out. Demo is fast; what it reveals decides the rest of the schedule. Rot, a flat pan or tired plumbing found here adds days now and saves a rebuild later.
Rough-in and waterproofing (days 3–7). Plumbing and electrical are moved or renewed, the shower pan is built with its quarter-inch-per-foot fall, and the waterproofing system — Kerdi membrane or liquid-applied — goes in and cures. A proper concrete pan also needs its flood test: 24 hours holding water before a single tile is laid. Skipping cure and test time is how showers fail young.
Tile (weeks 2–3). The biggest block of work. Floors, shower walls, niches and benches are set, left to cure, then grouted and siliconed at every change of plane. Large-format tile goes down slower than small tile, patterned work slower still — honest tiling cannot be rushed past its cure times.
Fixtures and finishing (final week). Vanity, toilet, taps, mirror, paint touch-ups and — the classic schedule-stretcher — the glass door, which is measured only after the tile is in and made to order. Allow 2 to 3 weeks for custom glass to arrive after measuring; a good remodeler plans the rest of the job around that wait.
What actually stretches a remodel
Materials not on site. Tile, pans and fixtures ordered after demo starts will stall any job. Everything should be in the garage before day one. Surprises behind walls. Colorado Springs homes from the 70s and 80s regularly hide cast-iron drains, aluminium wiring and unvented plumbing. Change orders. Moving a wall or a drain mid-job re-opens finished stages. None of these are excuses when they are flagged early — they are only a problem when nobody tells you until week three.
How long, honestly, by job size
Tub-surround tile replacement: about 5 working days. Standard bathroom, same layout: 2–4 weeks. Full remodel with custom shower and glass: 4–6 weeks. Anyone promising a full bathroom in three days is skipping cure times, flood tests or both — and you will meet those shortcuts again as leaks.
The short version
Book the work, get every material on site first, and plan on 2 to 4 weeks for a standard Colorado Springs bathroom — a bit more with custom glass or layout changes. November has room for handyman work and smaller tile jobs; larger bathroom remodels are booking into December.
